Upper Pyeatt Cave

We drove higher up on the mountain and did another short hike to Upper Pyeatt.  It was windier on top of the mountain.  The entrance was about 8’ in diameter and looked like it should be the entrance to a pit much deeper than 38’.  Jeff rigged it with a lime green rope.  The entrance had been defaced by a sign stating how it was illegal to deface the cave.  The short drop brought us into a large canyon passage which turned to the left and ended 80’ later at the bottom of a breakdown slope.  Alan pointed out some fluorite crystals at the end of the passage.  We all climbed back out and it began to rain.  Back in the car, a rainbow had developed.  We hopped back out to take pictures and drove to Calvary Cave.  To Calvary Cave
