Eisele: It makes me sad that the sign has to be there, and the entrance is no longer just an open hole in the ground, as it was in the fall of 1971 when I first visited with a group from Indiana State University. We did everything the sign says. We were there for the simple joy of caving. We went through the back-braker to the mountain room and the river below it, leaving crayfish undisturbed in the stream. Ignorant people make the strict control necessary now. Sad. |
