Brian: We took the Explorer to a car wash before the temple to wash off signs of off-roading. When we arrived at the airport, we tore down and repacked our packs. We also cleaned the interior. We were feeling rather strapped for time during checkout since we had a little over a hour to departure. I spotted a small passenger side dent as he checked the car but he didn't notice. I suspect it was there before us since we originally checked out in the dark. We moved as fast as we could to baggage check-in and were glad to see no lines. Then we tossed our bags to TSA for X-ray inspection and quickly walked to security. I carried on an ounce of liquid tears. The TSA guy thanked me for putting it in the container making it easy to inspect. Check-in and security took about 15 minutes. We began writing in the Captains Blog and soon boarded. We had four penguins on the back of our plane. The flight went by quickly since I was writing. Soon we found ourselves in Denver 10 minutes early. Our layover went by quickly since I was still writing. Our next plane had Woody the Wood Duck on the tail. This plane seemed to have a bit of trouble taking off and landing. Takeoff took longer than normal and landing rattled. The flight seemed longer but we kept working on the Captain's Blog. We switched seats after takeoff because of a crying and kicking baby behind us. We were all unhappy to be returning to Indy and mentioned multiple times how we'd have liked to stay in SLC. It was 70 degrees when we landed at 11:30 PM EDT. We're now driving around 465 back to Kyle and Erin's. One lane is blocked for construction. |
