Bosque de las Pinas
We then drove back up 191 and back west on 3 until we got to 187. We screwed up and ended up back on 3 and took 188 to 187 and stopped at the Bosque de la Pinas. It’s a beach. The surf was pretty high. We hiked along the shore on some extremely jagged limestone. We arrived at an area with small limestone bluffs that the waves were crashing into called Punta Vacia Tolega. Marion had made a new friend, a straggly dog that followed him around the whole time despite his cursing it. I spotted many crabs hanging out on the bluff. They could actually jump. They were too quick and far away for me to photograph well. On the way back, I spotted an enormous termite nest which we photographed. Marion was hesitant to get near it. I got some good close-ups of the termites. We got back in the car and drove back to Mimi’s. By far, the Puerto Rican drivers were worse today than any other day. They were always cutting us off and pulling out in front of us. We hiked around 6 miles today. Alan told me that I was a good hiker because I travel at the right speed. Fast!
