Cueva Garra de Aguila

We had passed right by it on the way up but had missed the 25’ W x 30’ H entrance hidden in the jungle.  I took an entrance shot and then Pat had me check out the back of the cave.  The cave had a flat floor until the last 40 feet.  I ascended a slick mud slope and climbed 25’ feet up to confirm that the cave ended in mud fill.  I spotted a very large frog but it leaped down the slope before I got a picture.  I photographed a cluster of bats on the ceiling.  Alan caught the frog and I got a picture of it too.  He said its skin is toxic.  Soon they were finished surveying the cave and we went back down to the river and climbed back up the slick hill to the cars.  Most everyone changed clothes which ended up being unnecessary since we only drove down the road a few blocks and up a horribly steep driveway to the next parking spot.  There was a cave right next to where we parked.   To Cueva de Jeep

Alan caught a large from that had hopped down the slick slope from me at the back of the cave. Doesn't it look happy :)

Looking out the entrance of the cave. Brandon didn't seem real motivated to pose for this picture.
