Cueva Ventana

I walked down some steps and climbed down a slope into the 20’ H x 20’ W entrance to Ventana Cave.  A short walk down the passage and through some large formations brought me into a large mostly flat floored room with dusty dirt mounds.  I’d been following the air.  Ahead, I encountered a formation maze where the larger passage had been separate by formations.  The breeze was quite evident here and a little light could be seen from E2.  Past the formations the passage opened up and a large hole exited out a cliff face.  This entrance was 50’ W x 40’ H.  The view from E2 was awesome!  It looked out over the river valley.  Brandon and I went back into the cave and he posed for a few pictures.  Then, I composed a shot for myself in one of the formation areas.  Unfortunately, my facial expression looks rather forced since I didn’t have time to properly compose myself after running across the room and climbing atop a large rock in 10 seconds.  After the picture, I got my V-gear on and rappelled 30’ down to Middle Ventana Cave.  To Middle Ventana

Looking out la Ventana from a different agle. Marion and Brandon take in the view. We eventually rappelled out this entrance down the cliff to get to the next cave.

Looking in from the other side of the large room. I guess this is Brandon's bad-ass pose :)

I used 2 strobes to take this picture. I slaved one behind the stalactite to backlight Brandon and held another slaved strobe in my left hand.

I got my vertical gear. I'm now walking back through the large room back towards E2. This shot was also taken using 2 strobes. I'm holding both.

While I was waiting on the others, I set up a picture looking into the formation maze. I spent quite awhile trying to get the right lighting and framing.

Cueva Ventana

You probably can't tell but my smile is rather forced because I just barely had time to run ahead and climb into place before the camera went off.
