Roger Hammock's House |

Next we went to Roger Hammock’s house. On the way, Alan told me an interesting story about how Roger acquired Jelly Acres. Roger has a SWEET place. It seemed that he owned an acre of fenced land filled with palms, exotics, and fruit baring plants. He also has two ponds. The more impressive of the two is carved out of limestone and fed by the aquifer. He can remotely turn a waterfall on and off. His house had a very open feel much like other places I’ve visited in warm climates. He gave us a tour of his property and let us pick a few fruits (star fruit and a blend). He also pointed out some spices and showed us some of the 5 trees he would soon sell for $10,000. He currently works as a naturalist. His hobbies include drinking, womanizing, kayak fishing, and of course botany. Alan believes him to be the most knowledgeable man alive on South Florida plants. We staid awhile talking and afterwards decided to visit a nearby cave. |
