Toxaway Falls

Nate Newkirk, Tom Duselis

We all awoke at 9 Eastern to the Cingular tune.  Jeff sprinted across he apartment apparently thinking it was his cell phone.  Nate hadn't woke us up at 6 central apparently because he'd heard rain outside.  It was still raining.  We had a little to eat, stopped by Walmart, and drove to NC.  We passed through Cashiers after about 3 hrs and drove to our first cascades, Toxaway Falls, below Lake Toxaway.  We parked at a restaurant, crossed a bridge, and started down the steep granite slope.  It was rather fun descending in my sandals.  I kind of slid once but was able to quickly control my descent.  It was drizzling a little bit still but blue sky was on the horizon.  Climbing back up the steep granite with my temporarily massive and heavy dry box worried me a little until I figured out the proper ascending technique.  Then it was easy.  We walked back to the car and drove to Rainbow Falls.  To Rainbow Falls
