Later, Alan and I hiked out across Big Canyon ridge and about 400' down the side of the canyon to Mock Turtle Cave. The canyon was very beautiful in the afternoon light. I'd decided to pack light so the hike was very enjoyable. It was quite fun climbing up and down and contouring along the very steep slope. Mock Turtle ended up being pretty nice containing large walking passage for about 235'. We exited and set out to find Exfoliation Cave. After much searching up and down the very steep canyon wall Alan stumbled upon Exfoliation Cave . It was nicer than we expected and contained a couple hundred feet of walking passage. After that, we climbed back up to the ridge top to view further down the canyon. Then we hiked back to camp. I was really tired that night and went to bed early. To Big Canyon |
