Roadside Pit

Jeff Moore, Alan Cressler

The next morning Terry went into Swago Cave to relearn the route so we walked up the road to drop roadside pit.  It really was roadside.  The entrance is a narrow crack about 3 feet to the side of the road.  Unfortunately, the road was too narrow to park a car otherwise we’d have rigged to a bumper.  I took a picture of Alan inside the entrance and soon followed him into the cave.  After about 20’ I came to a rebelay and rappelled 40’ to the pit bottom.  Alan and I traversed up and down over muddy breakdown to the back of the cave.  There wasn’t anything real special at the back though we told Jeff that there was a really nice formation room through a nasty looking belly crawl.  Unfortunately, he didn’t believe us.  We exited Roadside and waited around for Terry.  Finally, he showed up and we hiked to the entrance of Swago Cave.

Car Fix

Alan tries to take my break pads off.

Car Fix

It turns out I still had plenty of break pads left.

Roadside

The entrance to Roadside is a crack probably 2 ft off the edge of the road.
