Mount Washburn

Brandon Stephens, Erin Baker, Kyle Lapczynski

Brandon:  At first, I didn't think I'd be very impressed.  Then, I read the bear warning sign.  After a few hundred feet on the trail, I was glad to be out there.  I was only disappointed that the smoke cloud from the nearby fires disrupted visibility.  Also, I enjoyed watching a young lady change in the woods while the others were photographing big horn sheep.

Kyle:  It was a nice peaceful hike through the meadows with gradual elevation gain.  It was worthwhile seeing the big horn sheep, the marmot, and the working fire tower on the peak.

Erin:  Everything was yellow and the tower looked really far away.  I thought the hike was fairly easy and I liked the big horn sheep.

Brian:  It felt good to be in the mountains again.  I was a little disappointed the trail was a gravel road but the group appreciated the gradual elevation gain.  Seeing big horn sheep up close and watching the marmot ran from the drainage pipe was fun.  I took us approximately 1.5 - 1.75 hour to climb to the top.  The fire tower was a rather expansive complex.  The view was nice through not spectacular.

Brandon really wanted his picture taken.

Mount Washburn

The bare trees trunks, burned by fire, are a common site in Yellowstone.

Mount Washburn

The big horn sheep really liked something growing alongside the road.
